UPDATE: We are so excited to announce that OFI Jostina, the gorgeous 3y/o fjord superstar that has been with us in training for the past few months has found her people!
She’s got a new barn name and a fantastic new family to grow up with! Congrats to Nikki Elin and family on their purchase of ‘Gemma’! I know she will be so happy with you and get to do great things!
Registered Name: OFI Jostina (pronounced “YO-sti-na”)
Beautiful 14h Fjord Mare – Born 4/9/2009
(LFH Jasmine x Peppertree’s Christian)
Barn Name: Gemma – Likes: naps, grooming, adventure, hugs
If you have not already fallen in love with Gemma solely on account of her luxurious forelock hiding her soft yet curious eyes, you will be drawn to her for her beauty, athleticism and irrepressible character.
Ya, she’s gorgeous. Ya, she’s talented. And ya, she’s REALLY well bred – but she’s even more special than that.
Gemma has that spark of fire that is the keystone of greatness, taking a horse from average to exceptional, while still being respectful, gentle and sane.
Gemma is a four-legged fairy – sprightly and delicate and full of light! She floats across the ground with greater ease, lightness and suspension than any fjord I’ve known.
She’s happiest when exploring or working. She is always eager to load into the trailer or accompany a human to the barn. She bonds sweetly with her person and she strives to be adored by her pasture-mates.
As a partner she will excel in disciplines such as ridden or driven dressage, jumping, eventing, combined driving, pony club, extreme cowboy race or any horse showing lifestyle where she can demonstrate her beautiful gaits, boundless energy and undeniable charm.
She’s also a great companion on the trails! She is courageous and bold, if not a little expressive. Gemma does NOT plod along. But she is also rare to spook and very reliable. As she gets older she will most likely adopt a more chillaxed response to new adventures, but I hope she never looses her bright enthusiasm.
Gemma has been started under-saddle with gentle aids allowing and encouraging her natural forward movement while developing her stamina and rewarding obedience.
She is very capable in all three gaits and an old pro at trailering, ponying, tacking, standing for mane trims and grooming, going out alone, coming in alone, being turned out in groups, being stabled at night, farrier work, vet care, tieing and leading.
She still needs some convincing when it comes to hoses, baths, fly spray, anything that smells like fly spray and patience at grain time.
Now that she is comfortable with a rider and understands the aids she is ready to develop her skills in your chosen discipline. She would also make an exceptional mother given her top quality breeding, but would like to have a riding or driving job as well due to her energetic free spirit.
OFI Jostina (Gemma) was bred by Dan and Solveig Watanabe of Olivia Farm. They are known for breeding Norwegian Fjordhorses of exceptional quality and are very knowledgeable about the breed and active with the registry and in the fjord community.
When I first got into fjords, I picked Dan and Sol exclusively to be my mentors because I fully trust the quality of their horses and the depth of their knowledge. If you are looking for top quality (and you should be – you deserve it!) you can count on an Olivia Farm bred horse.

- Yoshi’s Cliff Story - It was a drizzly memorial day weekend and I had taken the day off from horses. I had a smashed foot (can’t remember why) and decided to go to a matinee movie in flip flops to elevate my foot and relax. Like a bad movie goer, I had my feet up on the seat in front of me; but like a good movie goer, I turned my phone off when the previews started.
